Amla Detox Water Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2~3 Amla (Indian Gooseberries)
  • 2 lemon grass sticks
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 2 liters water
  • To decorate use lemongrass sticks  or amala slices or mint leaves
    (You can adjust the quantity of ingredients as per you liking)

Method of Preparation

  1. Wash and clean all the vegetables.
  2. Roughly chop amla and remove the seeds.
  3. Roughly chop lemon grass.
  4. Put all in the chopper and chop finely.
  5. Grate the ginger.
  6. In a saucepan boil water on high flame and add all the chopped vegetables, grated ginger.
  7. Let them boil for 2 minutes, and lower the heat and cover.
  8. Let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Then strain the water.
  10. Transfer into cups decorate with lemongrass sticks or amla slices or mint leaves (you can add more water if it’s too sour)
  11. Drink it hot or at normal temperature with or without honey.

Notes

  • You can use 2 tablespoons lemon juice instead of amla, but lemon juice must be added after straining and when temperature is not so high.
  • You can buy amla and lemon grass in bulk, chop them separately, and then freeze in a ziplock bag flat (add chopped amla/lemon grass is a ziplock bags and fill them up. Press out as much air as you can, place the bags on a baking sheet or the floor of your freezer, and freeze). Once frozen flat, it is easy to break  into small  pieces with hand and use as required. You can add 2 tablespoons of amla in 2~4 liters of drinking water. Keep in a glass jar, and drink that water everyday.
